A suspect have been arrested for theft of motor vehicle and possession of car breaking implements.
At about 15:15 yesterday afternoon, members of Kempton Park SAPS Crime Prevention Unit received a tip-off of three people who are stripping a white Toyota double cab bakkie.
Upon arrival at the identified premises, the suspects started shooting at the police and the police retaliated.
Two suspects jumped into the Toyota bakkie and one suspect jumped into a Toyota Verso. The Police managed to arrest one suspect who attempted to escape in the Toyota Verso.
His two accomplices in the double cab escaped.
It was later discovered that the Toyota double cab bakkie was stolen at O.R. Tambo International Airport.
The arrested suspect is 29 years old and will be appearing at Kempton Park Magistrates Court soon.
