It was a black Friday for some commuters as they lost their lives in a tragic fire accident involving a petrol tanker and a commercial vehicle in the every busy Lokoja-Okene road. About 10 persons reportedly died while some of the injured ones where taken to the hospital.
According to an eyewitness, the trailer was trying to avoid hitting a commercial tricycle and in the process hit the commercial vehicle which ignited the fire that burnt some of them beyond recognition.
Reports have it that onlookers and sympathizers that rushed to the scene to rescue the trapped passengers could not do much as the billowing fire and smoke prevented them from giving a helping hand.
Some persons said that the accident could have been avoided if the roads are on good conditions. They bemoaned the deplorable condition of the road which has continue to get worst and the federal government is not paying much attention.
