Check out the way Chinese people treat wild monkeys following intense heat.

With temperatures soaring above 35 degrees in central China’s Henan Province, both humans and animals have been struggling with severe heatwaves for the past few weeks.

To help wild macaques living in the local nature reserve escape from the unbearable heat, staff prepared a summer fruit feast and lavished the monkeys with a rich variety of icy, sweet fruits.

Apples, tomatoes, watermelons, bananas, peaches and grapes were left scattered on a blanket of ice cubes. On discovering the surprise dinner, the macaques dived into the sea of fruits, one group after another, and helped themselves to their heart’s content.

Approximately 3,600 wild macaques currently reside in the nature reserve in Henan’s Taihang Mountains, the country’s largest macaque community.
