Popular American designer hanged herself in her apartment in New York.

New York based fashion designer Kate Spades 55 commits suicide Tuesday morning. It was reported that Kate Spade, née Katherine Noel Brosnahan, was  found dead at 55 from apparent suicide in her N.Y.C. apartment and had used scarf to hang herself.

The designer founded her namesake brand in 1993 with husband Andy Spade (brother of actor David Spade), and sold the company in 2007. In 2016, she began another accessories brand, Frances Valentine, named for her 13-year-old daughter.
