A 14 year old girl from Ukpor in Nnewi South LGA named Chiamaka Akaniru recently hung herself on a tree at the back of her father's house.
The girl who came back from lagos where she was staying with her aunty on 17th of December 2017 on the ground that she wanted to come and see her mother who later gave birth three days later climbed a tree after a squabble with her mother and hanged herself.
Recounting the ordeal the mother said that she went to a nearby market to buy things and has not finished her business transaction when her husband rush to her to inform her of the tragic situation.
On what might be the cause, the mother said that her daughter was formally possessed by the evil spirit which they took her to various prayer houses in the past before her sister in law took her to Lagos for further deliverance.
She however noted that they believed the little girl has been delivered although she was stubborn which they attributed to youthful exuberance.
Recounting further, on that fateful day , I told her to do some family chores which she refused rather she was busy doing other irrelevant things. I called her and was explaining to her to change from her stubborn ways . I was even crying while doing that to make her understand my plight but she didn't even care.
Later I went to the market to buy things and that was when my husband came and informed me of the incidence.
It was her 11 year old younger brother that saw her first climbed the tree lose the rope and ran and called his father who called me as well.
We took her to hospital but the doctor confirmed her dead already . We don't know what pushed her into such attitude. "As a mother, don't I have the right to advise my daughter or scold her if she does something bad" she queried.
She explained that it has not been easy for her and her family since the incident. Meanwhile the police PPRO could not be reaching as at the time of filing this report
