A prison warder has taken her life following leaked pictures of her alleged relationship with an inmate in Losperfontein correctional centre. North West province South Africa.
The officer who was not named was under investigation according to South African Department of correctional services (DCS) when the picture of her in a compromising posture with an inmate of her prison surfaced online.
The said officer took her life on Monday.
In a statement by DCS, they acknowledged that they are aware of the circulation of a picture involving one of their officers and a prisoner and said that they are investigating the matter.
“As this is disturbing and strictly prohibited, the department condemns this type of behaviour in the strongest possible terms" their statement read.
The statement further reads, "Whilst DCS was busy investigating this matter, we have since learned with shock that the officer allegedly appearing on the images has committed suicide."
They offered their condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of the deceased officer and said that they will "provide neccessary support" if there's the need.
