"I'm an African, you will never take life" says a hero who stopped a knife attack in a London bus.


"I’m an African, you will never take life" was what a  passenger who has been hailed as a hero said after wrestling a knife away from a man who had boarded a London bus in broad daylight.

Mobile footage of the incident in Stoke Newington yesterday afternoon shows the man wrestle a knife away from the attacker as other passengers watch on in horror.

He eventually grasps the weapon off the armed man who makes a dash for the door before escaping down the street.

The hero can be seen clutching the huge weapon as he leans out of the bus and yells ‘I’m an African, you will never take life.

The circumstances that led up to the incident on the number 149 bus at 1.55pm aren’t clear.

The hero passenger, who is aged in his 20s, suffered minor cuts to his hands and head and was taken to hospital.

A Met Police spokesman said: ‘He was taken to an East London hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
