Pastor dupes his lover, others of over 17 million naira.

A pastor identified as Charles Mgbe, has been arrested by the Cross River State police for allegedly defrauding his lover who is a deaconess, and others to the tune of more than N17m.

According to Calitown, trouble started for Mgbe after allegedly selling two vehicles to a church member. It was gathered that after receiving payment for one of the vehicles bought in partnership with his lover, he told her that payment was still outstanding.

Acting on the wrong information he fed the widowed retiree, the police stormed the house of the buyer to retrieve the said vehicles, only to be hit with the truth.

At the Zone 6 Police Command, Calabar, it was also revealed that Mgbe had allegedly serially conned his lover of huge sums of money, under the pretext that he had Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, contracts to execute.

“The most painful part of this whole scam is that his lover’s bedridden brother also gave him his ATM card to help him withdraw some money to foot his medical bills, but he went a step further to withdraw a little above N2m from the account, under false pretense,” a police source revealed.
