A Twitter user @lou_whiz has taken to his page to narrate how a man was shot by the men of Nigerian police force and his leg is now going to be amputated. In a series of tweets he narrates his incredible story.
Dear Nigerians, My heart bleeds. The young man in the picture is set to have his leg amputated. HOW? WHY? @PoliceNG This is why the Government must #EndSARS
The young man in the picture below was shot in the leg "accidentally" by one of two fighting officers in Wuse II. Turns out the young man was coming out of the store and the two officers were fighting somewhere around the front of the store.
It was in this scuffle that, one of the police men "accidentally" discharged the bullet from his weapon that has damaged the left leg of the victim above. This young man was rushed to National Hospital, Abuja who did a mess of covering with a POP(Plaster of Paris)
This led to the leg decomposing after some days and him been referred to Cedar Crest Orthopedic Hospital, Apo. The Doctors after examining the leg have concluded that the Leg has to be amputated to save this Man's life.
It's now two weeks since this incident and this young man has been in immense pain due to lack of funds, while @PoliceNG has said they would dismiss the officers in question and in no way are they supporting this victim's path to recovery.
It's now up to the victim's elder brother; Frank Kelechi (a struggling photographer in Abuja) to come up with 860k for the amputation surgery and other hospital bills. Please, well meaning Nigerians should please intervene however they can.
It is not enough to #EndSARS or #EndSarsBrutality . We also have to assist the victims they leave in their wake. Please Call Frank Kelechi on +2348065438947 and find out how you can be of assistance to the victim or just to hear his side of the story.
This is just very sad. To think this could easily have been any of us at any day. One moment you are the guy/ girl on the street, the next, you are thinking of how you would dangle one leg. Please let's RT till this gets to people who can help. Thank you. #EndSARS
