Catholic church finally claim the body of one of their Bishop that "killed" himself.


The Catholic Church in Cameroon has officially received the corpse of their colleague Bishop Bala of Bafia who was "brutally assassinated" by suspected government officials.


The ceremony today at the morgue of the Y'de General Hospital was witnessed by Archbishop Kleda of Douala, President of the national episcopal conference , Archbishop Jean Mbarga of Y'de, Bishop Kome, the administrator of the Bafia Diocese,  the attorney general of the Y'de court of appeal and relatives of Bala.

This now paves the way for the burial programme of Bishop Bala announced early August.

It will be recalled that Bishop Bala was alleged to have committed suicide some month back when he jump into a river in the Cameroon. He was said to have driven himself to the river, write a suicide note and then jumped into the river.

Since the incident, their has been a long drawn battle between the church and the government over the death of the Bishop with accusations and counter accusations. The Catholic church have accused the government of killing the man of God under the guise of suicide an allegation which the government has vehemently denied.
