Fruits meant for IDP'S in Northern Nigeria find it's way to the local market.

Reports have it that about 200 tonnes of FREE date fruits donated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Nigerian refugees are now being sold in Nigerian markets as seen in the picture below.

The fruit, given to Nigerians who were on pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia and also obtained from the Saudi Arabia Embassy in Nigeria, has been marked either “Free” or “Not for sale”.

The fruits were given for free based on the agreement that those taking it are going to give it to the poor, especially those in the Internally Displaced Persons camp.

However, the authorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Nigeria have found the fruit on sale in Nigeria to their amazement.

The dates were distributed from a warehouse belonging to Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the presence of the Charge d’Affairs, Dr Yahya Mughram.

The commission for refugees, migrants and Internally Displaced Person drew up the list of recipients which included IDPs camps as well as prominent Mosques.

Meanwhile the Federal government is set to commence investigation into the matter.

Such a shame.
