Shacks gutted by fire in Port-Harcourt.

In Nigeria, because of inadequate houses, poverty and also the steady rise in the cost of privately built houses, most people have resorted to living in shacks popularly called 'batcha' in this part.

It's usually a make shift structure that is basically built with woods and roofing sheet. Such shacks are prone to fire outbreak because of it closeness and the materials they use in making it. Many people have lost their lives and properties worth millions have lost as a result of these outbreak

So it's no surpise to me when i saw a post on Chika David Oparaodu Facebook wall about such shack that was gutted by fire in her neighbourhood. The place is know as Ogoni quaters and it's in Ogbunabali part of Port-Harcourt Rivers state. See the pics she shared.

So sorry for them.
