6 men kidnapping gang caught in Aba, Abia state.



The Abia State Police Command have arrested six kidnap suspects after a gun battle at Okpu Umuobo Umungasi Aba.

The State Commissioner of Police, Anthony Ogbizi, who also paraded three other robbery suspects, said the operation led by a special team from Lagos and Abia State commands, was as a result of a tip off by a patriotic citizen.



CP Ogbizi who assured that the team is continuing with the Operation, aimed at ridding the state of kidnappers and armed robbers, expressed regret that the kidnap suspects were using residential buildings for their operations in the state and called on members of the public ‎to be vigilant and always report suspicious movements around their vicinity.

                     
Unfortunately the kidnap victim, who was rescued alive during the operation, was later confirmed dead.

The Anti kidnapping Police Squad arrested six members of the kidnap gang operating in Aba,Abia State and  rescued one  of their victims while recovering  2 AK47 Rifles and 6 Magazines loaded with 180 Rounds Of Live ammunitions which were hidden in a Special compartment constructed under the operational Vehicle Of the Kidnappers in Abia State.

The operation was a response to the kidnapping of Elder Benjamin Okoye (76yrs) on 15/12/17 at Aba Abia State and the subsequent demand for 80 Million Naira ransom by the Kidnappers.

Following intelligence reports, IRT operatives of the police deployed by IGP Ibrahim Idris swung into action and eventually arrested 2 of the Kidnappers in Aba town who took the Combined team of  IRT Operatives and CPS Aba Police Personnel To the Kidnappers Camp at Okpu Umuobo Area Of Aba Town where the rented 3 bedrooms House used for keeping Victims by the Kidnappers was raided and the ailing victim, Mr Benjamin Okoye, who was hypertensive was kept without his Drugs.

The victim was rescued alive while 4 more Kidnappers were arrested with bullet wounds inside the house as they attempted to escape. The victim later died at a medical facility in the city.

The Six Kidnap suspects arrested are:
1) Chinonye Anoro 26yrs,
 2) Prince Sylvester (35yrs) owner and Driver of the Operational Bus used for 8 Kidnappings in Aba,
3) Kingsley Papa (45yrs)
 4) Ugbonabo Danjuma (43yrs) Gangleader,
 5) Moses Clever 31yrs and
6) Ogoro James 26yrs.

All the Suspects Confessed to involvement in several kidnapping within Aba and other parts of Abia State.

Four of the 6 Kidnappers further confessed that they formed their gang from the Prison and as they came out from Prison this  October they recruited others and started Kidnapping.

The two AK47 Rifles used for their operations were also recovered in a Special Compartment they constructed under their Operational Golf Car.
