Grandma sky dive from 14 thousand feet to celebrate her 101 years.
Age is just a number. Irene O’Shea marked her 101 (and 39 days age) birthday by challenging herself to a 14,000 feet (some 4,267 meters) skydive.
O’Shea from Adelaide, Australia plunged into the crystal blue South Australian sky in mid-September. She completed a legend and made history as the oldest person in the world to skydive and jump out of a plane, according to Daily Mail.
Prior to her record was British Vernon Hayes, who jumped 15,000 feet (some 4,572 meters) from a plane to mark his 101 (and 38 days age) birthday.
During the falling and landing, O’Shea kept a firm smile on her face, which marks a highlight on her adventure diary. She did the jump as a promotion to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease, a disease that took her daughter’s life several years ago.
In 2016, Irene, a mother of two, grandmother of five and great-grandmother of 11 kids, took on a tandem parachute jump, which she described as the “most remarkable thing she’d done.”
