Monster fish? See the fish that was caught in Niger Delta rivers

Am a big fan of Nat Geo wild and i love seeing the way animals interact with their environment and am usually awed by nature and it's stunning diversity. One of my favourite programme on Nat Geo wild of course after Incredible Doctor Pol is Monster fish. I absolutely loved the way the host- i have forgotten his name- go in search of the biggest fresh water fishes all over the world. Though i have not seen any of the segments filmed in Africa's famous rivers but the man has criss-crossed the Americas, Europe and Asia in search of Monster fishes.

So when i saw this picture on Austin Bebara Abaye Facebook wall i know for sure that this is Stingray. I have seen the host of Monster fish search for those monstrous fish in South east Asia especially in the Mekong river that passed through so many Asian countries like China, Vietnam, Loas etc.

Sincerely, i never knew that the fish can be found in Nigerian rivers and i was suprised that it even have a local name. According to some persons, it's called Seeka, Sika in some languages of Niger-Delta state especially Bayelsa.

It's amazing what can be found in our backyards. It's just that these with guys have explored everywhere especially for conservation purpose and documented their report and show us on television, if not for them i wouldn't have recognize this big fish. I would have called it a flying saucer fish like one of the persons that commented on the said wall.

Think we need to start exploring our environment and if not for anything, for conservation,  so that our children and children's children will get to see some of these beautiful creatures.
